FAQs

  • How do I sign up for an event?
The easiest way to sign-up for our public events is directly through our Upcoming Events page. There, you will find games organized by month and can immediately book a ticket. You can also book a private event to if you'd prefer to set up your own event date, time, and location. If you're curious to learn more about our various ticketing platforms, we use Humanitix for our in-person event tickets and StartPlaying.games for our virtual events.
  • Do I have to sign up for events in advance?
As much as possible, we ask that you book your tickets to our public events at least 24 hours before the event. This is especially important if we have low enrollment. For example, if we don't have at least 3 players signed up for a pop-up game within 6 hours of the event, we will be forced to cancel. On the flip side, most of our game events cap out at 6 participants, so booking your ticket early is important in case we sell out! If you are hesitant about signing up due to financial constraints, please just let us know. We are usually willing and able to accommodate players, especially if it means we don't have to cancel an event.
  • Do you have a membership option?
Yes! Worlds 4 All is excited to announce three membership tiers through Ko-fi, each of which come with their own exclusive member benefits. Review and sign-up for our various membership options here: http://ko-fi.com/worlds4all/tiers
  • Where do you play and host events?
Worlds 4 All doesn't have our own private event location because we like to come to you! Check out our list of past event locations on our Community Collaborators page, and visit our Upcoming Events page to see where we are playing next. Our home office is in Lawrence, MA, so we generally run events in the Merrimack Valley, North Shore, and Greater Boston areas of Massachusetts. If you book a private event, we can also come to your home or office! We are open to driving anywhere in the state for a private event, though we are currently only insured in the state of Massachusetts. We are always looking for new restaurants, community nonprofits, and artistic venues to partner with. If you think we might be a good fit for your space, email us at info@worlds4all.com.
  • What ages do you work with?
We generally run events for adolescents and adults. We generally break our public events up into three age groups for comfort: middle school aged, high school aged, and 18 plus. For private events, we are willing to work with kids as young as 10 and can also run inter-generational and family-friendly games! As public school educator with over a decade of secondary classroom experience, our Founder and Lead Facilitator, Heather Silva, is no stranger to working with varied groups of young people: she welcomes both the joy and the challenge. Curious why don't we work with younger children? In general, players need to be able to engage actively in a game for 2-3 hours (with movement breaks and snacks, of course). Also, even with our built-in safety tools, some of the themes and conflicts presented in various TTRPGs (i.e. combat) are more suited to mature audiences, so we feel best playing with adolescents and adults. I like to think of our TTRPGs as akin to the 1992 children's movie Ice Age: at the very least, we are likely rated at least PG for "mild peril" 😂
  • What if I have accessibility needs?
At Worlds 4 All, a core part of our ethos as a company is making games accessible for everyone. With that in mind, we send out a required informational form before each event as part of our suite of safety tools: this gives you an opportunity to tell us about any accessibility requirements you might have. We will do our absolute best to accommodate every player's needs, and if we can't make a venue work, we will give you a full refund until we can find a suitable game for you. Our in-person event platform, also has a built in way to feature accessibility details for each venue, which we are working on adding to each event. In the meantime, we are also excited to begin offering virtual games for those who feel most comfortable playing from home. If you are someone who works in the TTRPG space and specializes in accessible gaming, we would love to work with you on improving our events. In our dream future, we also hope to run bilingual games to reach an even wider audience.
  • What is the time commitment if I sign up for a game?
Our public events usually run for approximately 3 hours. While that might sound like a lot, think of our events like any other night out: a group of friends out for dinner, a movie, a "sip and paint" event, a concert, a sports game, or even an escape room usually ask you to devote a similar amount of time (and likely even more money!). To be honest, 3 hours is usually considered the MINIMUM amount of time for a session in TTRPG circles, with many being scheduled for longer. Since we are telling a full story from beginning to end at our pop-up games with 6 players all learning and improving, things just take time. But we promise it's a ton of fun! We do take movement breaks as needed, and most of our venues offer food and drink for purchase (for mini-campaigns, you can bring your own food or snacks). For private events, we recommend at least 3-4 hours of play time, with a minimum 2 hour commitment.
  • Can I come by myself or do I need a group?
You can absolutely come by yourself: most of our event participants sign up on their own, while some do bring partners or friends. A great benefit of these events is meeting new people, so we definitely take the time to build community at the gaming table or workshop. Also, the more you come to Worlds 4 All, the more likely you'll see familiar faces, as we are grateful to have a lot of repeat customers. If you have a group of 4 or more people who you would like to play a game with, you might be better off booking a private game. This will allow you to set the date, time, and location, as well as request the type of game we play!
  • Do I need to bring anything?
The short answer: no! For all of our creative workshops and game sessions, we will provide any basic materials that you need to play. You are welcome and even encouraged to bring a favorite journal, dice set, fidget toy, or other relevant item, but you are never required to. When it comes to character sheets, we will also provide pre-generated characters for all of our pop-up games. If you are an experienced player who would like to bring your own character to a pop-up game, simply email us at info@worlds4all.com to review any character prerequisites (level, species, etc.) for that session.
  • Can I hire you for a private, personal, or business event?
Absolutely! We would love to bring the fun to your next birthday party, holiday gathering, team-building event, or youth program. We are also happy to provide game facilitation services to existing groups of players who need a reliable and high-quality DM/GM/Story Guide. Simply go to our Private Bookings page to complete our booking form, and we will get back to you with a free consultation within 24 hours.
  • Does Worlds 4 All only offer TTRPG services?
Technically, no, though this is our most popular service! Our Founder and Lead Facilitator also specializes in creative writing opportunities and loves working with youth in various capacities. Worlds 4 All is a growing small business with lots of creative enthusiasm, so if you have another idea for us or want to partner for an event, we are all ears. Simply Contact Us to start the conversation.
  • What is your refund policy?
For all public, in-person events booked through Humanitix, a full refund is only guaranteed up to 2 days prior to the event start time (or up to 2 days prior to the the start of the first session in a series of events, such as for our mini-campaigns). For virtual events booked through Startplaying.games, players have up until 24 hours before the start of a game session to make changes in order to avoid being charged for a session. For all privately booked games, your specific refund terms will be outlined in your signed service contract. We completely understand that life happens, and we support you in maintaining healthy boundaries. For the sake of community care, if you are sick or were recently exposed to COVID-19, we ask that you let us know and do not attend session. Please just communicate with us as proactively as possible, and we will handle all refunds on a case-by-case basis once the aforementioned refund periods expire.
  • Wait, what does TTRPG stand for again?
TTRPG stands for "tabletop roleplaying game," which are the kind of games we specialize in facilitating. They aren't board games, video games, or computer games, and they really only require your imagination! To learn more, you can watch our "What are TTRPGs?" video above, but the BEST way to really understand is just to come play! That's why we offer the first game free for all new customers.
  • Do you run custom-themed games?
We absolutely can! We love taking existing game modules and modifying them or even creating brand new stories from our imaginations. Our Founder and Lead Facilitator, Heather, has a background in English Language Arts and loves creative writing, so these are her favorite opportunities. This can be especially fun for private events if you want to hire us to run a game for a Frozen-themed birthday party, a haunted Halloween gathering, or even a hacker-gone-wild adventure for a tech company team-building event. The beautiful thing about facilitating for a wide array of TTRPGs is that we can pull from so many different systems to tell any story you can dream up for players of any experience level.
  • What TTRPGs do you play or run?
We love many different TTRPGs. While Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) is often the most popular or well-known, we have just as much (if not more) fun playing a variety of other options. Here are the TTRPGs our Lead Facilitator has run before: Dungeons & Dragons 5e (both 2014 and 2024) Coyote & Crow Kids on Bikes (and Brooms) Roll for Shoes Honey Heist Avatar Legends Wickedness We also have several other indie TTRPG playbooks that we are itching to run soon, including... Girl by Moonlight Nancy Druid Our Last Best Hope Masks Dungeons & Venture Finally, we are always open to running new games: if you have a suggestion, let us know on any of our social media channels or by email. We tend to steer clear of strictly war-based TTRPGs due to our company values, but it's always better to check with us than assume. There are hundreds of TTRPGs out there with more being published every day, so the possibilities are endless.
  • What are these many-sided dice I keep seeing?
Many, though not all, TTRPGs include some element of chance. Some use a traditional deck of 52-playing cards, some use tarot cards, and many use dice. In order to introduce different probabilities into the game, some games go beyond a traditional 6-sided (or d6) die and use other "polyhedral" (or many-sided) dice. In the diagram below, you can see the most common examples of these polyhedral dice. The triangular dice is 4-sided die, or called a "d4" for short. In Dungeons and Dragons, for example, all of these polyhedral dice are used for different purposes, though the d20 (or 20-sided die) is used for the majority of "dice checks" that you make during the game. These dice are usually sold in sets at many game stores and online, and people love to collect them in various colors and designs.
  • What Safety Tools do you use?
While we will often adjust our Safety Tool offerings based on the TTRPG we are playing (especially since many now have them built in!), the following safety tools are standard at all Worlds 4 All tables: BEFORE SESSION All players are required to complete a "Session Zero Checklist" before our games. You can see an example here. While we don't hold full "Session Zero" meetings for our pop-up games due to scheduling, we do hold them as part of most private bookings and mini-campaigns. DURING SESSION We use "pause" and "stop" cards at the table (our version of X/N/O cards) We take movement breaks at least once per session and more whenever requested As long as the venue permits, food and drink is always welcome during session Personal fidget toys are encouraged, and individual players are often doodling, stretching, and maybe even dancing or acting things out during the session. This is your game, so as long as everyone feels comfortable, we encourage you to have fun and tend to your needs. AFTER SESSION When time allows, we like to end sessions by discussing "Stars and Wishes" All players are emailed an anonymous Feedback Form after session, which we really encourage you to complete. This helps us understand how to improve our choice of venue, facilitation, and overall game play experience. Not sure what Safety Tools are? We encourage you to learn more about their purpose and importance in TTRPGs here.
  • Are you looking to hire other game facilitators?
Eventually, we would love to bring together a team of DMs/GMs/Story Guides to offer a variety of creative opportunities under the Worlds 4 All banner. For right now, we are just getting started, so we aren't quite in a place to hire employees yet. Plus, we are values-driven business who wants to be very intentional about providing quality over quantity in our services. So, for now, we are dreaming big and working hard as a single-member LLC and using the "royal we" to represent our growing community. If you'd be interested in joining the Worlds 4 All team sometime in the future, it never hurts to Contact Us and put your name on our radar.
